NELP Petition to Renew Unemployment

The National Employment Law Project (NELP) has created a petition to get Congress to renew unemployment benefits that expire December 31, 2011 for millions of American’s.

Unemployment stats

  • Average job search is taking more than 9 months for laid off workers.
  • More than 6 million have been jobless and looking for work for six months or longer
  • Average length of unemployment been more than six months for over two years
  • Nearly every week this year 400,000 workers have lost their jobs.
