1,600 Applicants for 36 openings
With 2014 off to a start with a rash of closings of stores, and factories not to mentions layoffs it shouldn’t come as a total shocker that when a business posts 36 open positions for low skill work 1,600 people apply. The Shenandoah Family Farms’ ice cream plant in Hagerstown, Maryland posted the jobs, and was soon overwhelmed.
The event even got a little attention in the US Senate.
