Michigan Minimum Wage rate increase today
In one of the countries most confusing labor laws; today marks Michigan’s effective minimum wage pay to $9.45 per hour up from $9.25 for non-tipped workers and unemployment rate pay increase today. Additionally the new law also adds for the first time a mandated paid time off.
Any businesses with more than 50 employees will be required to offer workers one hour of paid medical leave for every 35 hours worked.
There is still ongoing legal battles over the minimum wage and paid medical leave because Michigan residents signed a petition for higher rates, then the Michigan legislators modified the citizen petition, to lower the rate of pay, and decrease how fast it would kick in.
