MARVIN:Extended Benefits
Since we haven’t gone over the Extended Benefits (EB) for MARVIN now is as good as any. You are supposed to submit to MARVIN a record of your job search, theoretically you are supposed to keep a record of your job search regardless, but when you start EB Big Brother wants to peak over your shoulder to make sure you’re looking for work.
You may have heard you need to search for 3 employers a week, this was the case not too long ago (in fact MARVIN on the phone will ask you if you’ve looked for 3 jobs in the past week). It appears that since the State of Michigan is either so backed up with people on EB that they have given up, or have faced reality that there are not enough jobs to go around; regardless MARVIN now requires only 2 employer contacts each week.
Traditional MARVIN
If you qualify for EB you should receive a packet in the mail explaining what to do with it. You’ll need to fax or mail the form to the State of Michigan BEFORE you call or certify MARVIN or MARVIN Online.
Your MARVIN phone call will also prompt you if you have sent in your weekly record of job searches before you go through the standard Q and A session.
MARVIN Online
You can also submit your job search through MARVIN online, then fill out your MARVIN questions, and certify.
In case you can’t find the Form to fill out for your record of work it can be found here to print out and send in. It is a PDF document you will download.
