What Recruiters See in your Resume

A few weeks ago The Ladders informed the public that recruiters spend only about 6 seconds on your resume.  It has now released eye scan data captures of what recruiters are actually looking at to make their snap decisions. Recruiters tend to put the most importance on:

  • Name
  • Previous title and start and end dates
  • Current title and company
  • Current start and end dates
  • Previous title and company
  • Education

The report also states that using an online profile from Linkedin is not as effective as using the Ladders online profile.  It also says that one Linkedin 19% of recruiter time is spent on your picture, and says that you may be better off without one.
