College degree not guaranteed path to a job
We’ve seen a couple of interesting reports on the importance of having a college degree or even having attended college for any amount of time and its impact on the job front. The Wall Street Journal shows that of the 9.2 million people million unemployed workers right now nearly 52% of them or 4.8 million are college participants, though not necessarily degree holders.
A recent survey from high school students that have graduated between 2006 and 2011 reported that they believed college education was important to having a “successful career”.
The New York Times had a report from the Heldrich Center showing that odds are strongly in your favor of having a “successful career” if you have a college education under your belt. Clearly having a successful career is a subjective term, if it measures your ability to not become unemployed the evidence is iffy.
