2014 Emergency Unemployment Extension in the works

Today the Senate cleared a major hurdle to get Emergency Unemployment benefits to workers in 2014.  Those who voted for Senate Bill were 6 Republicans, 52 Democrats, and 2 Independents.

The bill if passed into law as is will restore between 14 weeks and 47 weeks of benefits averaging $256 weekly to an estimated 1.3 million long-term jobless who were affected when the program expired December 28, 2013.
