How to document Ohio Work Search Requirements

How to document Ohio Work Search Requirements

If you are new to the ODJFS unemployment insurance system, simply having an approved unemployment benefit, and weekly certifications are not enough to keep your unemployment payments flowing while you are looking for work. You need to document your work search process using the Ohio Means Jobs system. Special note, in some cases with the current COVID-19 Pandemic in some cases work search requirements are paused, but eventually you will be asked to document your work search process.

Work Search and Reemployment Activities

Claimants who file new applications for unemployment compensation and who are required to search for work must complete these reemployment activities at OhioMeansJobs.com:

  • Create or upload a resume with specifics about your work history.
  • Complete the Career Profile assessment to identify careers that match your skills and interests.

These activities must be completed by the dates specified on your New Claim Instruction Sheet. If they are not, your unemployment benefit payments may STOP until the activities are completed.

NOTE: If your application indicates an expected return-to-work date, verification from an employer will be requested. If you indicated that you are a student or in a union, proof of student or union status will be required, as well. If verified, your work search requirement may be waived.
