NELP Petition to Renew Unemployment
The National Employment Law Project (NELP) has created a petition to get Congress to renew unemployment benefits that expire December 31, 2011 for millions of American’s.
Unemployment stats
- Average job search is taking more than 9 months for laid off workers.
- More than 6 million have been jobless and looking for work for six months or longer
- Average length of unemployment been more than six months for over two years
- Nearly every week this year 400,000 workers have lost their jobs.
