Unemployment rate is unacceptable

It’s been a terrible few past years particularly post Great Recession.  In fact Michigan’s unemployment rate went up in June, seasonally adjusted it now stands at 8.7% up from 8.4%, the national rate was unchanged at 7.6%.  The CEO of Gallup Jim Clifton had a great piece that the unemployment rate just an unacceptable number. He points out that Gallup shows the underemployment rate at 17.2%; that rate is basically anyone that has a part-time job, but is looking for full-time work.

Forbes has pointed out that in June 2013 we effectively created ZERO jobs in the United States. To put it into perspective the United Kingdom is facing 17 year highs for the unemployment rate.

All the while long term unemployed that got caught can be found around the country in our shadow economy selling plasma and other general labor like watching kids, housework, etc.

Job seekers are up against tall odds.
